Wire connector is a type of solderless electrical connection. These connectors are typically used to terminate stranded wire.
The benefits of connector over soldering:
A well-engineered and well-executed crimp designed to be gas-tight, which prevents oxygen and moisture from reaching the metals (which are often different metals) and causing corrosion Because no alloy used (as in solder) the joint mechanically stronger.
Crimped connections can be used for cables of both small and large cross-sections, whereas only small cross-section wires can be used with wire wrap.
To achieve the necessary compressive force, it’s best to use a crimping tool when attaching crimp connectors to a wire.
Pliers or a hammer will work in a pinch, but using such tools can result in a loose connection that ultimately results in an open circuit.
